Conflicts Coordinator
A well-established law firm is seeking a Conflicts Coordinator to join its Chicago office. This is a full-time position supporting the firm’s new business intake and conflicts process while also assisting with select billing responsibilities. The role offers a collaborative, team-oriented environment with excellent long-term growth potential as the firm prepares to implement a new conflicts platform.
The position follows a 35-hour work week, with a schedule of 9:00 AM-5:00 PM. Employees will follow a hybrid work schedule. The salary range for this position is $70,000-$85,000, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate will have prior law firm conflicts experience and be comfortable handling new matter intake, conflict analysis, and matter opening processes. Experience with billing systems and processes is a plus.
Skills required and Job Duties include the following:
Job Duties:
- Manage new business intake, matter opening, conflicts analysis, and resolution using the firm’s conflicts system
- Perform conflicts searches and analyze results in coordination with General Counsel
- Review and monitor engagement letters, waivers, and related documentation to identify and resolve potential issues
- Coordinate solutions for workflow issues and communicate with software vendors as needed
- Conduct corporate and party research using publicly available databases
- Provide timely responses to attorneys and firm leadership regarding conflicts reports and requests
- Maintain the integrity of the conflicts database and new matter intake workflow by ensuring all required information is collected and verified
- Assist with billing-related projects, including pre-bill edits, transfers, invoice processing, and pre-bill distribution
- Respond to billing-related inquiries and support special projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of law firm conflicts experience preferred
- Experience with new business intake, matter opening, and conflicts analysis
- Time and billing experience is a plus
- Experience with iManage Conflicts and Aderant is preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong analytical, organizational, proofreading, and data entry skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong judgment, professionalism, confidentiality, and client service skills
