Medical Malpractice Defense Litigation Paralegal

Beacon Hill Legal is hiring on behalf of a respected and well-established law firm in Bloomington, Illinois for an experienced Medical Malpractice Defense Litigation Paralegal. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity for a hybrid or remote work schedule, depending on experience and firm needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical malpractice defense and related litigation, with experience supporting matters from inception through trial. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented paralegal who can manage complex cases, support multiple attorneys, and thrive in a deadline-driven environment while delivering excellent client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze complex medical and technical information in support of medical malpractice defense litigation
  • Summarize, organize, and manage extensive medical records and related documentation
  • Assist with case preparation through all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, expert development, and trial
  • Identify, recommend, and coordinate medical and technical experts and consultants
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents
  • Review discovery materials and assist with analysis, clarification, and dissemination of information
  • Interview witnesses and assist with fact investigation
  • Prepare interim case status reports and litigation summaries
  • Provide trial and hearing support as needed
  • Assist with special projects and other litigation-related tasks as assigned

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical malpractice defense litigation paralegal in a law firm or legal services environment
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume defense litigation caseload efficiently
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize deadlines and handle multiple matters simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Paralegal Certification preferred
