Commercial Real Estate Paralegal
A nationally recognized law firm is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Paralegal to join its Chicago office. This is a full-time opportunity supporting a busy commercial real estate practice that handles sophisticated transactions across a variety of asset types and financing structures.
The position follows a hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two days remote. Hours are 8:30 AM-5:00 PM. The salary range for this position is $70k-$130k, depending on experience.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of commercial real estate experience, including substantial title and survey review experience. Candidates should be comfortable managing multiple transactions simultaneously, working directly with clients and outside parties, and taking ownership of deal timelines from start to finish.
Skills required and Job Duties include the following:
Job Duties:
- Review purchase and sale agreements and track critical transaction deadlines throughout the deal lifecycle
- Draft amendments, assignments, consents, extension notices, and organizational charts related to real estate transactions
- Review title commitments, surveys, and related due diligence materials
- Prepare title memoranda and draft title objection letters to address and resolve title issues
- Coordinate closings, including preparing signature packets, legal opinions, incumbency certificates, and closing documentation
- Communicate directly with clients, title companies, lenders, and other outside parties to keep transactions moving forward
- Obtain zoning letters, lien searches, property information, and prepare summaries of findings
- Prepare and distribute closing binders following transaction completion
- Assist with entity formations, foreign registrations, operating agreements, and obtaining EINs and corporate documentation
- Prepare and file various regulatory filings, including Form ID, Form D, and Blue Sky filings
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of commercial real estate paralegal experience
- Strong title and survey review experience is required
- Experience supporting acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, and due diligence processes
- Excellent organizational, project management, and multitasking skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple complex transactions and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working directly with clients, lenders, title companies, and other transaction parties
- Knowledge of Illinois real estate practices, transfer taxes, and deed preparation is a plus
- Comfortable utilizing legal technology platforms and document management systems
