Fantastic regional law firm is seeking a Senior Litigation Assistant to join there team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years’ litigation assistant experience. This role will be hybrid after a 3-month ramp up period.
MUST have strong experience with e-filing and legal document drafting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Handle substantive legal work.
- Draft and format memos, correspondence, legal documents and various forms.
- Proofread material for correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting.
- Organize work load to comply with deadlines and priorities established by attorneys.
- Open and maintain client files including records management related to clients and to the firm.
- Communicate with clients on behalf of attorneys.
- State and Federal E-filing.
- Prepare Table of Contents and Table of Authorities.
- Prepare Transcripts.
- Maintain attorney calendars.
- Perform billable work on an as needed basis.
- Assist in the development of Legal Assistants in the practice team, as needed.
- Continue enhancing job knowledge and skill set by participating in educational and training opportunities.
- Perform all job duties according to safety policies, including maintaining a neat, organized and safe work area and promptly reporting any potential unsafe conditions and/or workplace accidents/injuries
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- 5+ years of legal administrative experience or equivalent.
- 2 or 4 year college degree a plus
- Advanced knowledge of the most current processes and procedures for the respective practice area, for example, docketing knowledge and electronic filing for commercial litigation practice area.
- Advanced knowledge of legal terminology, legal forms and documents, legal practices and procedures and how to resource.
- General knowledge of rules of practice – State and Federal.
- Strong technical skills, including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SmartSheets, PG specific legal software, Internet applications and DocuSign.
- Excellent written, verbal and listening skills. Ability to interpret instructions provided in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail including proof reading experience to include correcting grammatical, typographical and spelling errors.
- Multi-tasking and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with attorneys, clients, co-workers and other individuals firm-wide.
- Minimum typing speed of sixty words per minute with high accuracy
- Notary public license preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion.
