Beacon Hill Legal is partnering with a large, well-established St. Louis law firm to hire an experienced Defense Litigation Paralegal. This role will support attorneys across a variety of litigation matters, including complex, document-intensive cases such as asbestos and eminent domain. The ideal candidate is highly organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable managing cases from inception through trial.
Position Overview
The Defense Litigation Paralegal will assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including document review, discovery, trial preparation, and case management. This position is well-suited for a paralegal who enjoys balancing multiple matters, working independently, and collaborating with a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist attorneys with all aspects of litigation matters from pre-suit through trial
Review, organize, and analyze documents received from clients and other parties
Draft and prepare pleadings, discovery responses, correspondence, and other legal documents
Organize and maintain physical and electronic case files and evidence
Assist with preparation for trials, hearings, depositions, and closings
Coordinate with clients, experts, witnesses, and opposing counsel as needed
Manage litigation deadlines, court filings, and calendaring
Utilize technology and online resources to support attorneys and clients
Perform additional tasks as assigned by attorneys or supervisors
Maintain strict confidentiality of all client and firm matters
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree or equivalent relevant work experience required
2+ years of litigation experience required; 5+ years preferred
Paralegal certificate strongly preferred
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training will be considered
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
Ability to proactively manage deadlines and multiple matters simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong critical thinking skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
Comfort using legal technology and electronic filing systems
Knowledge of general office procedures required; law firm experience preferred
Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with attorneys, staff, court personnel, and external contacts
Schedule & Compensation
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience
