Beacon Hill’s client, a mid-sized law firm, is immediately seeking a Contract Paralegal to cover a leave.
- Location: Onsite – Los Angeles, CA 90071
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: Until early-late August (covering a leave)
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday
- Pay: $50-$55/hour, depending on experience
Qualifications:
- Strong litigation paralegal experience supporting discovery, subpoenas, depositions, and trial preparation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable handling large volumes of documents, including medical records, imaging, videos, and photos
Paralegal duties include:
- Subpoenaed Records
- Issue subpoenas for records
- Prepare and maintain subpoena indexes
- Follow up with attorney services and subpoenaed entities regarding record status
- Download subpoenaed records, including CDs enclosed with imaging records
- Deposition Subpoenas
- Prepare deposition subpoenas and notices of deposition
- Research and confirm contact information for witnesses to be deposed
- Coordinate with process servers for service of deposition subpoenas
- Track and follow up with process servers regarding service status
- Follow up directly with witnesses regarding depositions
- Discovery
- Prepare and download document productions
- Prepare privilege logs
- Clients
- Coordinate with clients in the production of client documents, claim files, and related materials
- Upon opening of a matter, obtain and send FTP links for clients to upload documents and claim files
- Download and organize client documents on NetDocuments or shared drives, including large data files (videos, photos)
- Motion Practice
- Identify helpful evidence obtained in discovery for motion practice
- Coordinate and prepare exhibits to attach to evidentiary declarations
- Experts
- Compile and send materials to experts
- Track materials sent to experts
- Coordinate expert conference calls, depositions, and trial testimony
- Send, download, and organize expert files
- Summaries
- Prepare summaries of medical and billing records
- For MTA matters, prepare charts for memos regarding settlement authority
- Trial
- Prepare trial binders
- Prepare deposition transcripts for lodging with the court
- Prepare trial exhibits
- Prepare clips of videotape depositions
