Beacon Hill’s client, an Am Law firm, is seeking an experienced General Counsel, Senior In-House Counsel, or Corporate Counsel who is fluent in Japanese (speaking, reading, and writing). This is a unique opportunity to join a global law firm and contribute across multiple practice groups, which may include labor and employment, corporate counsel, and litigation. The partner overseeing this role is open to training the right candidate in areas outside their core experience, as the work may vary across practice groups. This is a contract SPL1 opportunity for someone who is looking for a longer-term fit, with potential to progress to SPL2 for the right candidate.
- Location: Remote, but must reside and be licensed in a state where the firm has an office: California, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, or Washington
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: Open-ended, with the potential to transition to a direct-hire Special Project Lawyer (SPL2) role within the firm
- Concurrent employment: Not permitted
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Pay: $90- $113/hour, depending on experience
Qualifications:
- Active bar license in good standing in the same jurisdiction you reside (CA, DC, DE, FL, IL, MA, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, WA)
- Japanese fluency (speaking, reading, and writing) is required
- Prior recent experience as General Counsel, Senior In-House Counsel, or Corporate Counsel (in-house experience strongly preferred)
- Comfortable working directly with partners and clients in a client-facing capacity
- Adaptable and capable of supporting multiple practice groups
- Interested in a long-term, stable opportunity with room for growth
- Japanese writing sample preferred (ALTA scores accepted if unavailable). Candidates should submit Japanese ALTA exam scores if available, or be willing to take the exam if not.
