Beacon Hill is partnering with a prestigious law firm to identify an experienced Conflicts Analysis Attorney for a long-term temporary engagement. This is a remote opportunity with a collaborative conflicts and compliance team supporting a sophisticated national legal practice.
The firm is seeking candidates located on the West Coast with flexibility for occasional overtime as business needs require. This assignment is expected to be long-term in nature and offers the opportunity to work with complex conflict-of-interest matters across a wide range of practice areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced conflicts attorney seeking a flexible remote role with a highly regarded law firm and exposure to sophisticated conflicts and risk management matters.
- Location: Remote (candidates must be located on the West Coast)
- Start: ASAP
- Duration: Open-ended (long-term); there is potential for this opportunity to convert to a permanent position
- Hours: Full-Time (~40 hours/week), generally 10:00 AM-6:00 PM Pacific Time, with overtime as needed based on workload and business needs
- Pay: $40-$50/hour, depending on experience
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in good standing.
- Prior experience handling conflicts analysis within a law firm environment required.
- Strong understanding of professional responsibility rules and ethical obligations governing conflicts of interest.
- Experience reviewing new business intake requests, lateral attorney conflicts, and conflict waivers.
- Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make sound judgments while managing sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while managing a high-volume workload.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze potential conflicts of interest related to new business intake, lateral attorney hires, and evolving client matters.
- Review conflict reports and conduct detailed research to identify legal and business conflicts.
- Evaluate engagement terms, waivers, and ethical considerations under applicable rules of professional conduct.
- Provide guidance and recommendations regarding conflict resolution strategies.
- Collaborate with attorneys, business intake professionals, and firm leadership to facilitate conflict clearance.
- Draft conflict waiver letters, engagement letters, and related documentation as needed.
- Research corporate affiliations, ownership structures, and other relationships relevant to conflict analysis.
- Assist with the review and implementation of new matter openings and lateral candidate conflict reviews.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation within the firm’s conflicts management systems.
- Support special projects and other responsibilities related to conflicts and risk management.
