Sourcing Advisor – Hybrid positon in Madison, WI
Position Overview
The Sourcing Advisor is a liaison between the Category Managers, the various internal business owner team(s), and any supplier during the sourcing process. A sourcing, procurement, category-specific, or finance background is required for this role. The scope and focus of work will vary and require working with a diverse team of cross-functional stakeholders. The Sourcing Advisor is expected to support, guide and manage the sourcing process elements of a project and understand business requirements. Areas of focus include request for information/proposal/quote (RFXs), supplier evaluation, negotiation and/or related support, supplier due diligence, and contracting support with suppliers. This role requires a persistent and eager individual to find solutions that meet our business needs while optimizing cost, quality, and risk outcomes.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Clearly communicates updates to stakeholders of ongoing initiatives and projects with suppliers.
- Participates in or facilitates the analysis of proposal responses with cross-functional teams.
- Partners with Contract Analysts to draft and revise supplier agreements.
- Participates in contract negotiations to optimize cost, quality, and risk outcomes.
- Participates in the development and execution of request for proposals (RFP’s) with input from cross-functional areas.
- Effectively communicates and collaborates with project team members, business owner representatives, and local/region supplier reps.
- Supports an awareness of supplier expectations and requirements within the organization to foster win-win relationships.
- Participates in or facilitates supplier visits, supports relationship owners in presentation preparation, data analysis, and organization.
- Supports the phased roll out of category management across the organization, partnering closely with Category Managers to ensure business objectives are met.
- Operationalizes savings initiatives through documentation, analysis, and contracting for key procurement targets.
- Documents and communicates the savings success and engages business owners in needed process changes.
- Upholds sourcing standards are followed across the organization through education to impacted departments.
- Identifies potential backup and alternate suppliers based on direction from leadership using industry sourcing resources.
- Participates in several projects at one time, with frequently changing priorities.
- Proficient at mining spend/supplier data and performing detailed analyses to support sourcing decisions.
- Familiarity with sourcing analysis techniques (TCO, make/buy, ROI, risk assessment, etc.).
- Ability to quickly develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and customers.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain, finance, or a field related to essential duties.
- 3+ years of industry experience in sourcing, supply chain, procurement, information technology, finance, operations, or a field related to the essential duties.
- Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiation and contract management, including a working understanding of contractual terms and conditions and risk mitigation.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience working within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP.
- 1+ years of experience sourcing process execution.
