Key Responsibilities:

Provide support within a low-barrier housing program alongside program staff and a designated VA coordinator.

Deliver counseling and crisis intervention related to substance use and mental health concerns.

Respond effectively to urgent or emergency situations that occur during overnight hours.

Offer assistance to residents as needs arise throughout the shift.

Apply practices rooted in harm reduction, trauma awareness, motivational interviewing, and person-centered care.

Share relevant overnight updates with day staff to ensure continuity of care.

Collaborate with security and operations teams during nighttime hours.
-
Connect participants to resources and referrals to meet immediate needs.

Work in partnership with other departments, community agencies, and the Veterans Administration to maintain quality service.

Step in to provide coverage for other low-threshold programs if staffing requires.

Attend supervision and team meetings as scheduled.

Carry out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

3+ years of experience in human services, particularly with substance use, mental health, or case management.

Background working with diverse populations is essential.
-
Certification such as LADC or CADC is a plus.
-
Veteran status is valued.

Skilled in motivational interviewing, harm reduction, trauma-informed practices, and person-centered approaches.

Strong abilities in crisis response, conflict de-escalation, and maintaining professional boundaries.

Effective written and verbal communication, including email and phone.
