Beacon Hill Legal’s client, a law firm located in Scotch Plains, NJ, is seeking a NJ barred Litigation Attorney for a temporary-to-permanent assignment.
Our client is open to candidates with varying levels of legal experience, including law school graduates and experienced litigation attorneys seeking a transition into education law. The candidate hired must have an interest in education law, be admitted and in good standing with the NJ bar and be able to work remotely. Pay is dependent upon experience, but compensation would be between $50-60 per hour.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and apply findings to support a wide range of client matters, including litigation.
- Draft legal documents such as memos, correspondence, contracts, policies, motions, and briefs.
- Assist in litigation and administrative proceedings, including discovery, hearing preparation, and client representation as appropriate.
- Participate in advising public school clients on legal obligations involving governance, compliance, student and personnel matters, and special education.
- Attend board of education meetings, IEP meetings, mediations, and administrative hearings, with mentorship and supervision.
Qualifications:
- Admitted and in good standing with NJ bar
- Interest in public education and a desire to support school districts and students through the legal system.
- Prior exposure to education law, special education, labor/employment law, or public sector work is preferred, but not required.
