Lead 3D Environment Artist (Mobile Applications)
Strong 3D Environment + Mobile Optimization Required
The Lead 3D Environment Artist will create high-quality 3D environments, props, and visual assets for mobile applications and interactive digital products. This role is hands-on and requires an expert in modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering, with the ability to rapidly iterate low- to mid-poly assets optimized for real-time performance.
You will define and elevate the visual style, collaborate closely with designers and engineers, and deliver production-ready 3D assets that meet mobile performance and aesthetic standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce 3D environments, structures, props, and illustration-style assets for mobile digital products.
- Lead visual direction and asset development across multidisciplinary teams.
- Establish and maintain the visual style, quality bar, and best practices for 3D execution.
- Rapidly prototype low-poly models before refining into production assets.
- Partner with engineers to ensure correct implementation, performance optimization, and shader/material compatibility.
- Present visual explorations, concepts, and iterations to leadership teams.
- Participate in critiques, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional reviews.
- Export and deliver production-ready assets, including UVs, textures, materials, and supporting files.
Must-Have Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional 3D environment art experience for mobile apps or games.
- A strong portfolio showcasing environment modeling, low-poly optimization, visual storytelling, and a variety of asset styles.
- Expert proficiency with Maya, ZBrush, Blender, or equivalent 3D tools.
- Strong understanding of UV mapping, texturing, lighting, rendering, and mobile performance constraints.
- Familiarity with Unity and real-time asset implementation.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite for supporting visual production.
- Ability to take direction, expand concepts independently, and solve creative/technical problems.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation ability.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work quickly and consistently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Figma (for reference, reviews, or visual alignment).
- Concept art, sketching, or illustration capabilities.
- Hard-surface modeling expertise (preferred for environments).
- Experience collaborating directly with tech/engineering teams for integration.
- Ability to multitask, iterate quickly, and maintain strong attention to detail.
- Highly self-driven, reliable, and enthusiastic about 3D visual storytelling.
