AI Developer / LLM Engineering Specialist
Role Overview
Seeking a highly skilled AI/LLM Developer with strong enterprise-level software engineering experience and hands-on expertise delivering production-grade AI solutions post-2022. This role supports ongoing AI development requests, owning end-to-end delivery of features, fixes, and enhancements using LLMs, agentic workflows, and modern ML tooling.
Ideal for someone who has transitioned from traditional software/ML engineering into building enterprise AI solutions using tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Llama, etc.
This is a contract-to-hire role operating at a senior associate / junior VP technical level.
MUST-HAVE SKILLS
Core Engineering
- 5+ years software development in Python, C/C++, Go, or Java (enterprise scale).
- Strong experience building and maintaining large-scale Python applications.
AI / LLM Engineering
- 3+ years launching production ML systems, including model deployment, monitoring, data pipelines, and fine-tuning workflows.
- Hands-on enterprise experience with LLMs, including:
- API integration
- Prompt engineering
- Fine-tuning / adaptation
- Building applications with RAG, vector retrieval, tool-using agents, and function calling
- Demonstrated use of GenAI tools post-2022 to build enterprise-grade engineering solutions.
Enterprise-Level Capability
- Experience developing AI/ML solutions within large, complex environments.
- Ability to own full lifecycle delivery: requirements discussions, solution design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Strong problem-solving skills, structured communication, and the ability to translate user needs into reliable engineering outcomes.
HIGHLY PREFERRED
- AI development experience at organizations with mature AI engineering practices.
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred): Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, DynamoDB, Redshift, Step Functions, SageMaker, IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation).
- Strong understanding of applied statistics, ML fundamentals, and model evaluation frameworks.
WHAT YOU WILL DO (DAY-TO-DAY)
- Handle ongoing AI development requests and deliver end-to-end fixes, enhancements, and new features.
- Build and deploy agentic AI systems, including retrieval workflows, reasoning agents, and secure tool-calling capabilities.
- Productionize LLM solutions: evaluation frameworks, prompt synthesis, response validation, self-correction loops, and pipelines.
- Integrate AI solutions with production ecosystems such as observability tools, incident response systems, deployment platforms, and automation frameworks.
- Work directly with end users to define problems, validate requirements, and deliver complete engineering solutions.
- Ensure safety, governance, and reliability standards through guardrails, policy checks, fallback strategies, and continuous evaluation.
- Optimize cost, latency, and performance through prompt engineering, context management, caching, and model routing.
- Build and maintain RAG pipelines, domain knowledge bases, and feedback loops.
