Senior Network Engineer – Switching & Network Operations
Overview
Seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support enterprise switching infrastructure and network operations across a large, distributed environment. This role focuses on designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining highly reliable network services while ensuring operational stability and performance across multiple sites.
Must Have
- CCNA or CCNP certification.
- Strong hands-on experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise switching environments (Layer 2 / Layer 3).
- Experience supporting enterprise networks across multiple sites in a 24×7 operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals including VLANs, STP, VRFs, multicast, QoS, and high-availability protocols (HSRP/VRRP).
- Experience working with LAN/MAN/WAN architectures, routing protocols, DNS/DHCP, IPAM, and network segmentation.
- Experience participating in incident response and root cause analysis for network outages.
- Experience using monitoring and logging protocols such as SNMP, NetFlow, and Syslog.
Nice to Have
- Experience with scripting or automation (Python or other scripting languages) to support network automation initiatives.
- Experience with monitoring platforms and ITSM tools such as LogicMonitor and ServiceNow.
- Exposure to network automation / NetDevOps practices
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise switching infrastructure across core, distribution, and access layers.
- Support LAN, MAN, WAN, Internet, Wi-Fi, and voice network services across multi-site enterprise environments.
- Maintain operational health, performance, and stability of switching environments.
- Implement and maintain network standards including VLANs, trunking, STP, MLAG/vPC, VRFs, QoS, and segmentation.
- Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and problem resolution for network issues.
- Perform network capacity planning and support bandwidth growth initiatives.
- Assist with hardware lifecycle management, firmware compliance, and infrastructure refresh initiatives.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for network architecture and operational procedures.
- Work closely with security, cloud, wireless, and infrastructure teams to support integrated solutions.
- Utilize monitoring tools to maintain visibility into network health and performance.
- Manage incident, problem, and change workflows using enterprise ITSM tools.
- Support automation initiatives by converting manual configurations into automated network workflows.
- Participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation to support network operations.
