Beacon Hill Legal’s client, a national law firm located in Uniondale, NY, is seeking a Legal Assistant for a contract-to-permanent assignment. Candidates must have 5+ years of experience assisting attorneys with Trusts and Estates. The candidate hired must be able to commute onsite to their office in Uniondale, NY five times a week and work overtime as needed. Pay rate is dependent on experience and starts at $30/hr.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of law firm experience and a background in the areas of Trusts and Estates.
- Prepare and draft Wills, Trusts, Health Care Proxies, Living Wills and Powers of Attorney and provide attorneys with administrative support.
- Be able to type 55+ wpm and have excellent spelling, grammar and organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and work both independently and as a team member.
- Experience with NetDocs a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keeping cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; entering information into file database and case management software; confirming case status with attorney.
- Answering telephone calls; maintaining client contact; scheduling meetings,
- Assisting attorneys with creating, formatting, and revising retainer letters and other legal documents.
- Straight typing, proofreading work for accuracy prior to returning to attorneys.
- Maintaining attorney schedules.
- Entering attorney time using Expert Time.
- Submitting expense and reimbursement reports using Chrome River.
- Managing and prioritize incoming email and correspondence.
- Attending Will signings
