Beacon Hill Legal’s client, a global legal solutions organization, is seeking an experienced Tax Controversy Attorney for an open-ended contract assignment. This role will begin at approximately 20 hours per week, with the potential to increase to full-time hours based on business needs.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling federal and state tax controversy matters and will be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment. Strong experience before the U.S. Tax Court is required, while state tax court experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Review, draft, and file tax court petitions
- Support federal and state tax audits
- Respond to information and document requests
- Conduct client follow-ups and matter management
- Assist with IRS examinations, appeals proceedings, and federal refund litigation
- Perform legal research and analysis related to tax controversy matters
Qualifications:
- J.D. and active bar admission
- Experience representing taxpayers in tax controversy matters
- Experience handling U.S. Tax Court proceedings
- Strong understanding of IRS examinations, appeals, and refund litigation
- State tax controversy experience is a plus
- Ability to manage matters independently in a remote environment
