Beacon Hill Legal client a respected law firm is seeking a Contract Patent Attorney to support a high-volume Life Sciences and Intellectual Property practice. This role will focus primarily on patent preparation, patent application drafting, patent portfolio management, and patent filing activities for biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, and other life sciences clients.
The ideal candidate will be a Registered Patent Attorney with strong life sciences experience who can work independently in a fully remote environment. Mid-level, senior-level, and counsel-level attorneys are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Draft, prepare, review, and file U.S. and international patent applications
- Manage patent portfolios for life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device clients
- Conduct patentability, validity, freedom-to-operate, and prior art analyses
- Respond to USPTO communications and office actions
- Collaborate with inventors, scientists, researchers, and in-house stakeholders
- Assist with patent strategy, portfolio development, and intellectual property counseling
- Prepare invention disclosures and related patent documentation
- Coordinate domestic and foreign patent filings
- Perform legal and technical research related to patent matters
- Independently manage a high volume of patent work while meeting client deadlines
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active U.S. bar admission in good standing
- Registration before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
- 5+ years of patent experience preferred
- Experience representing life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, chemistry, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or related clients
- Strong patent drafting and patent prosecution experience
- Experience managing patent portfolios from invention disclosure through issuance
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
