Position Summary
We are seeking a Contract Research Associate to support protein and antibody expression, purification, and characterization efforts. This is a hands-on lab role ideal for candidates early in their careers who are looking to build and expand their technical skillset in protein sciences within a collaborative and fast-paced research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform recombinant protein expression in mammalian cells, with potential exposure to bacterial and/or insect systems
- Support protein purification workflows using AKTA/FPLC systems and standard chromatography techniques (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion)
- Maintain mammalian cell cultures under sterile conditions and assist with transfections
- Prepare media, buffers, and reagents for routine lab operations
- Conduct basic protein characterization (e.g., SDS-PAGE, SEC, Western blot, or similar assays)
- Assist with protein production campaigns across multiple projects
- Maintain accurate experimental records in electronic lab notebooks
- Support lab operations including equipment upkeep, inventory management, and ordering supplies
- Collaborate with team members to execute experiments and learn new techniques
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field
- 0-2+ years of relevant laboratory experience (industry or academic)
- Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology or protein science techniques
- Exposure to mammalian cell culture and sterile technique preferred
- Familiarity with protein purification concepts or AKTA systems is a plus
- Experience with standard analytical assays (e.g., SDS-PAGE) preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to learn quickly, follow protocols, and work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- Exposure to recombinant protein expression or purification workflows
- Familiarity with additional systems (bacterial or insect cells)
- Experience supporting multiple experiments or projects in parallel
