Practice Innovation Analyst
Location: Dallas, Houston, or Austin, Texas
Department: Practice Innovation / Legal Operations
Reports To: Director of Practice Innovation or Chief Innovation Officer
Position Overview
We are seeking a forward-thinking Practice Innovation Analyst to partner directly with practice group leadership to enhance service delivery, improve operational efficiency, and leverage legal technology and AI to drive measurable business outcomes.
This role sits at the intersection of legal practice, technology, financial analytics, and process improvement. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex technical solutions into practical tools that enhance attorney productivity and client value.
Key Responsibilities
Practice Group Partnership
- Collaborate with practice leaders to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and margin improvement
- Serve as the primary liaison between attorneys, IT, Knowledge Management, and Finance
- Participate in client-facing initiatives, including RFP responses and innovation discussions
Legal Technology & AI Implementation
- Evaluate, pilot, and implement legal technology tools, including AI platforms and automation solutions
- Support responsible and compliant use of generative AI tools
- Partner with Information Security and Risk teams to ensure governance standards
- Measure adoption and ROI of innovation initiatives
Data & Financial Analytics
- Develop dashboards and reports tracking KPIs such as matter profitability, realization, utilization, and budget performance
- Assist with alternative fee modeling and pricing analysis
- Identify trends and provide data-driven recommendations to practice leadership
Process Improvement & Legal Project Management
- Conduct workflow assessments and process mapping
- Apply Lean or process improvement methodologies to optimize service delivery
- Support matter planning, budgeting, and execution tracking
Training & Change Management
- Deliver training sessions and workshops for attorneys and staff
- Develop documentation and user guides for new tools and workflows
- Support adoption strategies to drive cultural acceptance of innovation
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3+ years of experience in legal operations, practice management, legal technology, consulting, or litigation support
- Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics tools
- Experience with legal technology platforms (e.g., document automation, eDiscovery, CLM, or AI tools)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work directly with partners and senior leadership
Preferred
- JD, MBA, or relevant advanced degree
- Legal Project Management certification
- Experience supporting Litigation, Corporate, Real Estate, or Energy practices
- Familiarity with generative AI tools and prompt engineering concepts
