The Business & Finance Paralegal works closely with attorneys on general corporate law practice areas including business formation, growth, succession planning, or sale. This position will have the ability to support counsel on a wide range of business transactions, entity formations, financing, and estate transactions. Some of the key anticipated responsibilities are listed below.
- Perform a variety of legal research and data compilation to assist with attorney client matters.
- Complete assignments involving drafting of legal documents including entity formation documents, bylaws, operating agreements, resolutions and minutes, and entity dissolution documents.
- File documents within both state and federal systems.
- Manage the physical and electronic filing system of historical versions of transaction documents and ensure the correct versions are represented throughout the transactional process.
- Organize and index case files. Maintain an active directory of clients, cases, matters, and status.
- Manage multiple assignments and deadlines on a daily, weekly, and long-term basis. Send attorneys calendar reminders.
- Handle direct client contact and relationship management.
- Act as a liaison with opposing counsel, couriers, and third-party vendors.
- Draft, review, and oversee the execution of correspondence, research, reports, and email communication.
- Coordinate the scheduling of meetings and other matters. Maintain attorney calendars to ensure all parties are informed of upcoming commitments and deadlines.
- Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive information.
- Track and enter billable time into the firm’s billing system.
- Coordinate with other Paralegals or Legal Assistants on major projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, with the ability to create, edit, and format complex documents and spreadsheets.
- Strong proficiency in DocuSign and Adobe.
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Paralegal certificate or related training.
- Five (5) or more years of Paralegal or related experience.
- Solid writing and editing skills.
- Comfort with technology, including learning and adapting to software platforms and other digital tools commonly used in law firms.
BENEFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Active Notary.
- Experience with an electronic document management system like iManage.
- Experience with a billing and timekeeping software like Aderant.
