Software Test Development Engineer I (Lab / Infrastructure Focus)
San Diego, CA (Onsite)
We are seeking a Test Engineer I to support a dynamic product testing environment within the medical device space. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of hardware, software, and lab infrastructure, helping enable reliable and scalable testing operations.
What You’ll Do
- Own and maintain a physical lab environment to support testing and validation activities
- Configure and deploy MacOS and Windows systems, including imaging, patching, and security updates
- Collaborate with IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues
- Build and maintain rack systems, servers, and hardware test setups
- Assemble and support electrical and mechanical test fixtures (wiring, soldering, components)
- Document lab processes, inventory, and system configurations to ensure operational consistency
- Support remote engineering teams by maintaining a stable, accessible test infrastructure
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience managing lab environments or test infrastructure
- Strong experience with MacOS and Windows system imaging and endpoint support
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, connectivity troubleshooting)
- Experience with hardware setup (racks, devices, servers, or test fixtures)
- Ability to document workflows and maintain operational standards
Nice to Have
- Experience with Git or source control tools
- Exposure to Android or iOS device configuration and debugging
- Familiarity with API testing or network debugging tools (e.g., Charles Proxy)
- Background in electrical or mechanical assembly, including soldering
