Pay: $36 to $43 per hour, depending on experience
Anticipated Permanent Salary: $75,000 to $90,000

Beacon Hill Legal is partnering with a rapidly growing employer-side labor and employment and civil litigation boutique in Orange County seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant. This is a fully remote, temp-to-hire opportunity supporting three to four attorneys in a fast-paced litigation practice.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of hands-on California civil litigation experience and be able to independently manage filings, calendaring, discovery, and legal document preparation. Prior labor and employment experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Draft, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents
- Prepare answers to complaints, motions to compel, and other motions
- Prepare motion for summary judgment shells
- Prepare and respond to discovery requests
- Complete California Judicial Council forms
- Prepare notices of remote appearance
- Electronically file documents in California state courts
- Assist with federal court filings as needed
- Upload documents through arbitration portals
- Calendar pleading, discovery, and motion deadlines
- Calendar answers, oppositions, replies, hearings, and status conferences
- Assist with litigation reports and budgets
- Manage competing priorities and deadlines while supporting three to four attorneys
Qualifications
- 5+ years of civil litigation legal assistant experience
- Strong knowledge of California civil litigation procedures and deadlines
- Hands-on experience preparing pleadings, motions, and discovery
- California state court e-filing experience
- Ability to independently calculate and calendar litigation deadlines
- Strong proofreading, formatting, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Adobe, Microsoft Office, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to anticipate next steps
- Professional, collaborative, and receptive to constructive feedback

The firm is willing to train on NetDocuments, Clio, and federal e-filing. Candidates must already be comfortable with the fundamentals of civil litigation, including discovery, document preparation, California court filings, and calendaring.
Beacon Hill will provide a laptop for the temporary assignment. Candidates should be prepared to discuss their hands-on experience with California litigation filings, discovery, pleadings, motions, and deadline calculation during the interview process.
