Accounting Manager

A well-funded, high-growth AI startup is seeking an Accounting Manager to help build and scale its accounting function during a period of rapid growth. Reporting to senior finance leadership, this role will play a key part in strengthening the month-end close process, improving accounting operations, enhancing internal controls, and building a scalable finance infrastructure.

The ideal candidate is both hands-on and strategic, capable of executing day-to-day accounting responsibilities while driving automation and operational improvements that support long-term growth.

Responsibilities

• Own key aspects of the monthly and quarterly close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting support
• Manage core accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, invoicing, and collections
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain well-documented supporting schedules
• Partner with Finance leadership to improve close efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and support audit readiness
• Identify opportunities for automation and leverage technology and AI tools to streamline accounting workflows
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, Customer Success, and other teams on billing, reporting, and process-related matters
• Assist with ERP implementations, systems enhancements, and finance transformation initiatives
• Support special projects and strategic growth initiatives as needed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience in a startup, high-growth technology, SaaS, fintech, or AI environment
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, revenue recognition, and month-end close processes
• Experience supporting AR, AP, billing, collections, and general accounting functions
• Background working with ERP systems and modern finance technology tools
• Advanced Excel and analytical skills
• Comfortable leveraging AI and automation tools to improve efficiency and scalability
• Strong communication and business partnering skills
• Self-starter with a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for building processes
