About the Role:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, and grant reporting, along with a hands-on approach and a commitment to accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards
- Track restricted/unrestricted funds and assist with grant reporting
- Support the annual audit process and prepare necessary documentation
- Collaborate with program and development staff to align financial data with operational goals
- Identify process improvements and support system optimization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; non-profit experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund/grant accounting
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar)
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
