The Payroll Accountant is responsible for processing payroll, reconciling payroll accounts, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. This role works closely with HR, finance, and external agencies to maintain accurate payroll records and support financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities

Process and review biweekly or semi-monthly payroll for employees.

Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.

Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies in payroll data.

Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries to the general ledger.

Maintain payroll records in compliance with company policies and regulations.

Coordinate with HR to ensure employee information (hires, terminations, salary changes) is updated in payroll systems.

Calculate and file payroll taxes and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Prepare payroll reports for management and accounting teams.

Assist with audits by providing payroll documentation and explanations.

Manage payroll-related accruals such as PTO, bonuses, and benefits.

Ensure proper reconciliation of payroll liabilities and benefits deductions.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

2-5+ years of payroll or accounting experience.

Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and labor laws.

Experience with payroll and accounting systems (ADP)

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Ability to handle confidential employee information.
