Senior Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Accountant to support our Cost Accounting team and manufacturing finance operations. This role will be responsible for cost accounting activities, inventory accounting, standard cost maintenance, variance analysis, month-end close, and financial reporting within a SAP S/4HANA environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of manufacturing accounting principles, and hands-on experience utilizing SAP to support operational and financial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes related to cost accounting and inventory.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, material usage, labor costs, overhead absorption, and production variances.
• Maintain and review standard costs, product costing structures, and bill of material (BOM) costing data within SAP S/4HANA.
• Prepare inventory reconciliations and ensure accuracy of inventory valuation and related general ledger accounts.
• Investigate and explain purchase price variances (PPV), production variances, and inventory adjustments.
• Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Plant Management to analyze cost drivers and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Support physical inventory counts, cycle count programs, and inventory reserve analyses.
• Maintain cost center reporting and profitability analysis using SAP S/4HANA reporting tools.
• Monitor manufacturing and inventory transactions to ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
• Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis related to inventory and costing.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and controls within the SAP S/4HANA environment.
• Participate in ERP enhancements, testing, process improvements, and system implementations related to cost accounting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4+ years of accounting experience, including cost accounting, inventory accounting, or manufacturing finance.
• Hands-on experience utilizing SAP S/4HANA, SAP FICO, Product Costing, Material Ledger, or related SAP modules.
• SOX internal controls from a multi-national publicly traded company
• Strong excel skills
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Power BI and Python skills are a plus
• Ability to business partner and collaborate cross functionally
