A well-established midsize law firm in New York City is seeking an experienced Assistant Managing Clerk to support its Litigation Department. This role works closely with attorneys and legal staff to ensure efficient handling, filing, and tracking of legal documents across state and federal courts.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate filing, service of process, and document retrieval with court personnel and vendors
- Prepare and electronically file legal documents in compliance with court requirements
- Maintain accurate docket entries and manage litigation deadlines using a case management system
- Distribute court filings and status updates to attorneys and legal staff
- Support attorney admissions and pro hac vice applications
- Provide guidance on court rules, procedures, and e-filing systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a law firm clerk’s office or managing attorney’s office
- Strong knowledge of federal and state court procedures and e-filing systems
- Experience with docketing/case management tools (e.g., CourtAlert or similar platforms)
- Familiarity with legal research and docket systems such as PACER or Lexis
