Cost Accountant

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, and cost of goods sold (COGS)
• Maintain standard costing and perform variance analysis for labor, materials, and overhead
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and support month-end close activities
• Monitor inventory transactions, cycle counts, and inventory valuation
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and manufacturing cost reporting
• Partner with operations and production teams to identify cost-saving opportunities
• Track production variances and provide recommendations to improve profitability
• Support annual standard cost updates and product costing initiatives
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting controls
• Assist with internal and external audit requests

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and variance analysis
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities (Pivot Table, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP)
• Ability to communicate effectively with accounting and operations teams
• CMA designation or progress toward certification is a plus
