Beacon Hill is partnering with a school in New York City to bring a Payroll Manager onto their team. This role will oversee end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing while maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in payroll best practices, and comfortable leading payroll functions in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle semi-monthly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy for salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
- Maintain and enhance payroll systems and processes to support efficient and compliant payroll operations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, including New York wage and hour regulations
- Partner with Human Resources to ensure accurate employee data and proper integration of benefits deductions (health insurance, retirement, etc.)
- Review and reconcile payroll-related tax filings, including quarterly and annual reporting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, providing clear and timely communication to employees and leadership
- Collaborate with the finance team to reconcile payroll expenses and support accurate financial reporting
- Assist in preparing payroll reports, analyses, and supporting documentation for leadership review
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and implementation of recommendations
- Identify and implement process improvements, partnering with HR, Finance, and IT to enhance payroll efficiency
- Develop payroll training materials and provide guidance to internal stakeholders
- Potentially supervise and mentor payroll staff, providing training and performance feedback
