Contract-to-Hire | Onsite (Mount Holly, NJ) | Up to $115,000

Description
We are partnering with a small, family-owned business in Mount Holly, NJ seeking a hands-on Controller on a contract-to-hire basis. This is a full “soup-to-nuts” role responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a lean environment, wearing multiple hats, and managing everything from daily transactions to financial reporting and process improvements. Responsibilities:

* Oversee full-cycle accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activity

* Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

* Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and adjusting entries

* Maintain and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and workflows

* Handle cash management, budgeting, and financial forecasting

* Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules

* Partner with ownership on financial reporting, business insights, and operational decision-making

* Coordinate with external accountants on tax filings and year-end reporting

* Ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with accounting standards and company policies

* Assist with system improvements or process automation as needed

Requirements:

* 5+ years of accounting experience

* Strong knowledge of general ledger, financial reporting, and full-cycle accounting

* Experience working in a small company or family-owned business environment preferred

* Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement prep

* Ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities

* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

* Experience with accounting systems (QuickBooks or similar ERP) preferred

* Comfortable working onsite and taking ownership of the full accounting function
