Title: Financial Analyst
Industry: Industrial Manufacturing
Comp: $100,000 – $120,000 + Bonus
Reports to: Controller
As a Financial Analyst, you will be the bridge between the production facilities and the corporate finance and accoutning teams. Reporting to the Controller, you will be responsible for the annual budget, monthly forecasting, weekly flash, month-end close, and monthly financial reporting.
Core Responsibilities
The Financial Analyst focuses on Cost Accounting, Operational Analysis, and Performance Tracking. You will spend your time analyzing production trends, managing inventory valuations, and helping department heads understand their budget variances.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Cost Accounting & Standards: Maintain and update standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead. Perform “Standard vs. Actual” cost analysis to identify manufacturing variances.

Production Analysis: Analyze plant performance metrics (Yield, Throughput, and Efficiency) to identify trends and areas for cost improvement.

Inventory Management: Oversee the integrity of inventory accounting, including cycle count programs, excess/obsolete (E&O) analysis, and year-end physical audits.

Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the creation of the annual operating plan (AOP) and monthly rolling forecasts.

Capital Expenditure (CapEx): Evaluate the Financial Return on Investment (ROI) for new machinery or facility upgrades.

Month-End Support: Prepare journal entries and reconciliations specifically related to production activities and cost of goods sold (COGS).

Decision Support: Build financial models to simulate “what-if” scenarios (e.g., the impact of a raw material price hike or a shift in the labor union contract).
Qualifications
Basic Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics.

Experience: 2-4 years of experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Power Query).

Systems: Experience working with an ERP system (such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics).
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
A successful Financial Analyst in this role will be measured by:

Forecast Accuracy: The variance between predicted spend and actual results.

Reporting Speed: Meeting tight month-end deadlines for production reporting.

Insight Generation: Identifying at least one significant cost-saving opportunity per quarter.
