Greenhouse Maintenance & Research Technician
Position Overview
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, learning new technical skills, and supporting plant growth in a controlled environment. The Greenhouse Maintenance & Research Technician assists with day‑to‑day greenhouse operations, including plant care and basic facility and equipment support. The role provides exposure to greenhouse research practices, environmental controls, and crop production systems while working with a variety of row crops throughout their growth cycles.
This opportunity is well suited for individuals interested in plant science, greenhouse operations, or technical maintenance who want to build experience in a research‑focused setting.
Key Responsibilities
Greenhouse Operations & Plant Care
- Support routine plant care activities such as planting, transplanting, sampling, watering, harvesting, and seed handling.
- Observe plant development and greenhouse conditions while learning standard operating procedures.
- Assist with maintaining clean, orderly, and safe greenhouse and growth chamber work areas.
- Work directly with row crops across multiple stages of growth in greenhouses and controlled environments.
Equipment & Facility Support
- Assist with basic troubleshooting and upkeep of greenhouse and growth chamber equipment.
- Support preventative maintenance activities and gain exposure to environmental control systems.
- Identify and communicate equipment or environmental concerns to supervisory staff.
- Follow safety guidelines and learn proper use and care of tools and equipment.
Work Environment
- Position involves standing for extended periods and working in warm, humid greenhouse conditions.
- Daily responsibilities may vary, offering hands‑on exposure to multiple aspects of greenhouse research and facility operations.
- Occasional weekend or holiday rotation may be required, typically to support plant care activities such as watering or monitoring.
