Job Description:
The Systems/Hardware Engineer will support a high-priority operational communications system by providing engineering analysis, baseline management, operations and maintenance (O&M), system enhancements, and integration support. The role focuses on ensuring the successful operation, sustainment, and modernization of complex system hardware within a small, multi-disciplined engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering analysis, baseline management, and O&M support for operational communications hardware
- Establish requirements for new hardware enhancements and system capabilities
- Troubleshoot, document, and resolve system outages and operational issues
- Collect diagnostic data and document issues in logging and discrepancy reporting tools
- Restore system operations and develop workarounds as needed
- Support data storage, retrieval, and analysis for system troubleshooting
- Utilize spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related tools
- Monitor system performance and modify equipment to ensure compliance with specifications
- Support development of CONOPs and provide system architecture recommendations
- Maintain schematics, block diagrams, BOMs, and design review packages
- Provide occasional after-hours support and emergency repair response
- Support CONUS and OCONUS travel as required
Requirements:
- Active and transferable TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance (required prior to start)
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 4 years of relevant engineering experience
- Experience supporting O&M ground systems engineering for satellite communications systems
- Experience generating, analyzing, tracking, and managing system requirements
- Systems engineering experience including schematics, block diagrams, BOMs, and design reviews
- Experience performing design performance and cost trade-off studies
- Ability to support emergency repair travel with little or no notice
- Ability to provide after-hours call-in support
- Ability to work at heights and complete antenna/tower safety training
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to work at heights
- Completion of antenna/tower safety requirements
- Ability to support travel (CONUS and OCONUS)
- Ability to respond to emergency repair situations, including after-hours
