Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Accounting to lead the company’s accounting operations and financial reporting function. This role will oversee the full close process, ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, and build scalable processes to support growth across multiple channels, including retail, eCommerce, and distribution.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical expertise, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to partner cross-functionally with teams across finance, operations, and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness.
  • Oversee preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly, including cash, inventory, accruals, and intercompany balances.
  • Analyze key financial metrics, including gross margin, COGS, inventory, and other P&L drivers, providing insights to leadership.
  • Partner with FP&A and senior leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to reduce manual work and enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to support year-end audits and other compliance requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Support ERP and systems enhancements, including implementation or optimization of accounting tools.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead or participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by executive leadership.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
  • Prior experience in CPG, manufacturing, or distribution environments required
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, inventory accounting, and multi-entity environments
  • Proven experience leading close processes and improving accounting operations
  • Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Dynamics, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA strongly preferred
