Job Description:
This Senior Ballistics Analysis Engineer role focuses on analyzing, modeling, and optimizing rocket motor and propulsion system performance through advanced ballistics and energetic materials analysis. The engineer will develop and validate computational tools, review and interpret test data, support failure investigations, and provide technical recommendations that drive design improvements. This position works closely with systems, design, manufacturing, and government stakeholders to ensure motor performance requirements are achieved while maintaining manufacturability and mission success. Ideal candidates will have a mechanical engineering background, several years of ballistics analysis experience, expertise in propulsion or energetics, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
- Ballistics Experience
- Experience with energetics, propulsion, or solid rocket motors
Plusses:
- Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline
- Proficiency in Matlab, Python, C++, Fortran, or similar programming languages
- Hands-on experience with program/project work in applied R&D and/or production support
- Familiarity with combustion instability phenomena
- A strong background in fluid mechanics and/or compressible flow
