Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to serving communities throughout Southern California, is seeking a Senior Accountant to provide temporary support during a period of increased activity, assisting with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Assist with grant accounting and restricted fund tracking
  • Support annual audit preparation and respond to audit requests
  • Analyze financial data and investigate variances
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational accounting policies
  • Partner with program and finance teams to support reporting needs
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close procedures
  • Experience with general ledger reconciliations, financial reporting, and journal entries
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus
  • CPA or CPA-track preferred but not required
