Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing finance team under a newly appointed CFO. This is a highly visible role that reports directly to the CFO and plays a key part in supporting the organization’s financial operations, grant management, and compliance functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end close
  • Support grant management processes including tracking, reporting, and compliance with federal and private funding requirements
  • Collaborate with the grant management team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Support the Controller and CFO on special projects as the finance team grows
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and federal agency requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of accounting experience within a nonprofit organization
  • Demonstrated experience with grant accounting and grant management
  • Familiarity with federal funding and federal agency compliance requirements
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or progress toward certification a plus
  • Experience with NetSuite and/or Raiser’s Edge
  • Prior experience in conservation, environmental, or philanthropy-focused organizations

Work Schedule

Hybrid – Wednesday is the anchor in-office day; minimum 2 days/week onsite, with 8+ days/month preferred. Standard hours 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
