Description:

DE based company is looking to build out their accounting group. The Controller will support and lead all accounting-related activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis of the period-end close.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Oversee daily cash management activities, including monitoring cash positions, reviewing cash forecasts, and coordinating fund transfers to support operational and investment requirements.
  • Partner with leadership to assess short-term and long-term liquidity needs and ensure adequate funding across entities and business units.

Debt & Financing Administration

  • Manage accounting and reporting related to debt instruments, including loan activity, covenant compliance, draw requests, and debt schedules.
  • Maintain debt records and amortization schedules and support refinancing, renewal, and financing initiatives.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders regarding financing transactions and reporting requirements.

Financial Controls & Asset Custody

  • Oversee bank account reconciliations and related treasury controls.
  • Ensure adherence to cash handling policies, banking procedures, and segregation-of-duties requirements.
  • Maintain corporate financial records and coordinate administration of insurance documentation and other financial agreements.

Accounting Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while ensuring efficient allocation of responsibilities and achievement of departmental deadlines.
  • Review accounting transactions, reconciliations, and financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Facilitate regular department meetings and promote continuous improvement initiatives.

Talent Management

  • Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and development of accounting personnel.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching and feedback, and support employee growth and succession planning.
  • Assist with compensation recommendations, performance management, and personnel-related matters.

Records Management & Compliance

  • Establish and maintain accounting documentation standards, record retention procedures, and internal compliance controls.
  • Oversee the organization and retention of financial records, reconciliations, supporting schedules, contracts, and reporting documentation.

Technical Accounting & Special Projects

  • Perform and review complex accounting transactions, including depreciation, amortization, intercompany activity, cost allocations, and capitalization of assets.
  • Support accounting related to acquisitions, dispositions, financing transactions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Recommend and implement accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements to strengthen financial controls and reporting accuracy.

Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
  • Analyze financial results, identify key trends and variances, and provide operational and strategic insights to management.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and reporting requirements.

Regulatory Compliance & Tax Support

  • Manage compliance calendars and oversee required business registrations, tax filings, and regulatory reporting activities.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors and prepare supporting schedules and workpapers as needed.
  • Ensure timely completion of regulatory filings and adherence to jurisdictional requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting and/or finance
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in accounting or related field
