Beacon Hill Financial is working with an insurance group in Manhattan to bring an experienced Accounting Analyst to their team. This role plays a critical part in the monthly close process, treaty-level reconciliations, recoverables management, and regulatory reporting, while partnering closely with underwriting, claims, finance, and audit teams. The position requires strong technical reinsurance accounting expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced specialty insurance environment. Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the monthly close process, including reconciliation and review of ceded reinsurance treaty calculations for both Quota Share (QS) and Excess of Loss (XOL) treaties within the reinsurance subledger system.
- Review claims activity, coordinate monthly claim billings, and monitor reinsurance recoverable collections to ensure timely settlement.
- Prepare and settle monthly and quarterly reinsurance accounts, including deposit premiums, premium adjustments, reinstatements, and profit commission calculations.
- Reconcile and review general ledger balance sheet accounts by profit center, treaty, and reinsurer, including both active and runoff treaties.
- Support detailed balance sheet reviews at the profit center, treaty, and reinsurer level to ensure proper aging, balance confirmations, and collateral compliance.
- Prepare, accrue, and settle internal quota share (QS) transactions on a quarterly basis.
- Assist with the preparation of Quarterly and Annual Schedule F filings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6-10 years of experience in the P&C insurance or reinsurance industry, with a strong focus on ceded reinsurance accounting and financial reporting.
