Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a non-profit organization in the Bronx to bring a temporary Assistant Controller to their team. This role will work closely with senior leadership to ensure the integrity of financial information, maintain strong internal controls, and support the organization’s mission through effective financial management. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), nonprofit accounting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard organizational assets
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports
- Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide recommendations to support strategic decision-making
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process, including monitoring actual results against approved budgets
- Coordinate annual external audits and assist with internal audit activities and compliance reviews
- Oversee grant and contract accounting activities, ensuring expenditures align with funding requirements and approved budgets
- Monitor government contract receivables and assist with revenue tracking and reimbursement processes
- Prepare and review financial reports required by government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources
