Senior Accountant – Bethesda, MD

Overview
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Bethesda, MD in their search for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial records, with a focus on general ledger activities, accounts payable oversight, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to independently manage accounting processes while collaborating across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the general ledger, including preparing and reviewing journal entries and resolving transactional discrepancies.

  • Perform and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations; investigate and resolve reconciling items.

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Assist with financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements and variance analysis.

  • Oversee accounts payable and expense-related activities, including credit card reconciliations and purchase order tracking.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.

  • Assist with audit preparation by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.

  • Identify and implement process improvements, including documentation of policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on ad hoc projects and support business initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.

  • Experience with Sage Intacct and Concur preferred.

  • Corporate accounting experience preferred with a strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service-oriented mindset.
