Senior Accountant
Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a well-established organization in the search for a Senior Accountant to support accurate financial reporting and provide meaningful insights to company leadership. This role will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, performing complex reconciliations, and supporting management through detailed financial analysis. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and the communication abilities needed to work effectively within a close-knit accounting team. Candidates with experience in retail or service-based environments are strongly preferred.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries across multiple company ledgers with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Verify financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP standards
- Analyze financial results and clearly identify, explain, and document account variances
- Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts, including researching complex discrepancies and exercising sound judgment when resolving issues
- Calculate management fees and amounts owed to or due from property owners in accordance with contractual agreements
- Interpret complex lease agreements and apply GAAP/FASB guidance when determining amounts owed to landlords
- Respond to management and operational inquiries related to financial reporting and account activity
- Utilize strong analytical skills to identify errors and recommend corrective actions aligned with accounting standards
- Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports and ad hoc reporting requests
- Mentor, coach, and support the development of Staff Accountants and Accounting Specialists
- Work within Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains to support day-to-day accounting operations and reporting
Qualifications:
- 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred, not required)
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs (required)
- Experience working in retail or service-based industries strongly preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a close, team-oriented accounting department
