Beacon Hill Legal is seeking a Patent Paralegal to join a global law firm in its Salt Lake City office. This position supports U.S. and international patent prosecution matters and is responsible for managing patent dockets, deadlines, and related documentation. This is a hybrid role offering competitive compensation, full benefits, and long‑term growth opportunities.

  • Maintains and manages U.S. and foreign patent prosecution dockets, ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Assists attorneys with drafting correspondence to clients regarding U.S. and international patent prosecution events
  • Communicates directly with clients regarding routine or procedural patent matters under attorney guidance
  • Assists attorneys with management of U.S. and international patent portfolios, including reviewing patent files, accuracy, deadlines, and required actions
  • Drafts patent prosecution documents related to new applications, formalities, examination, appeals, and post‑allowance actions for attorney review
  • Files patent documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office under attorney direction
  • Communicates attorney instructions to foreign associates and local counsel regarding international patent matters
  • Prepares and assembles ancillary documentation for international filings
  • Creates, monitors, and maintains U.S. information disclosure statements in the IP docketing system
  • Assists with patent due diligence projects
  • Navigates USPTO online systems to obtain application status updates and download documents
  • Conducts research related to country‑specific patent law requirements and filing procedures
  • Applies working knowledge of patent legal procedures, terminology, and processes to daily tasks
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, completion of a paralegal program, or equivalent intellectual property experience
  • 2-5 years of patent paralegal or related experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage workflow, prioritize tasks, and track portfolio milestones
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and proactively problem solve
  • Working knowledge of patent prosecution, docketing, and filing procedures
  • Experience with USPTO electronic filing and online databases
  • Exposure to international patent systems and databases
  • Experience with docketing software; Foundation IP Preferred
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
