Litigation Docketing Specialist

A highly respected law firm is seeking a Litigation Docketing Specialist to join its Chicago office. This position supports a sophisticated litigation practice by maintaining critical court deadlines, calendaring requirements, and docketing information across a variety of jurisdictions.

This is a primarily remote position, with the expectation that the selected candidate will be onsite during the initial training period. The salary range for this position is $75K-$100K DOE.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of litigation docketing experience and experience working with rule-based calendaring systems such as CompuLaw, CourtAlert, and/or eDockets. Candidates should have a strong understanding of federal, state, and agency court rules and be comfortable interpreting court filings and legal documents to ensure accurate calendaring and deadline management.

Skills required and Job Duties include the following:

Job Duties:

  • Read and interpret court filings, pleadings, orders, and other legal documents to identify upcoming deadlines and docketing requirements
  • Create new events and update existing events within a rule-based calendaring system, including manual calculation of deadlines as needed
  • Maintain the accuracy of all docketing and calendaring information related to litigation matters
  • Communicate with court personnel, attorneys, and legal staff to obtain and verify case information and resolve docketing issues
  • Generate routine and specialized reports related to litigation deadlines and case management
  • Monitor developments and changes in court rules, procedures, and filing requirements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Provide docketing support to attorneys and legal staff to ensure compliance with all litigation deadlines and obligations

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of litigation docketing experience
  • Experience with rule-based calendaring systems such as CompuLaw, CourtAlert, and/or eDockets
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and agency court rules
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret pleadings, court orders, and other litigation-related documents
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to occasionally work additional hours as needed
