Well-funded nonprofit organization in San Jose is hiring a Senior Accountant with strong grant accounting experience. This is a hands-on role supporting a multi-funded environment with federal, state, and private grants. You’ll work closely with leadership to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and audit readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle grant accounting, including tracking, reporting, and compliance across multiple funding sources
- Monitor grant budgets and ensure expenses align with funding requirements and restrictions
- Prepare monthly and year-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Support audit preparation, including schedules and documentation tied to grant activity
- Assist with grant billing, revenue recognition, and reimbursement processes
- Partner with program managers to track spending and provide budget vs. actual analysis
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with nonprofit and grant regulations
Qualifications
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with recent nonprofit and grant accounting exposure
- Strong understanding of restricted funds, grant compliance, and reporting requirements
- Experience with federal/state grants preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups)
- ERP experience (Sage Intacct or similar preferred)
