We’re partnering with a mission‑driven nonprofit organization in the San Francisco Bay Area that’s looking for a Staff Accountant for a 3-4 month temp‑to‑hire opportunity. This is a great chance to support a meaningful cause while gaining hands‑on accounting experience.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support property accounting and fixed assets, including maintaining asset schedules and ensuring accurate asset tracking
- Build and maintain depreciation models in Excel for buildings and capital assets
- Assist with basic financial modeling, including forward‑looking, month‑over‑month analysis
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close support
- Assist with general ledger maintenance and variance analysis
- Partner with finance team members to support audits, reporting, and ad‑hoc analysis
- Help improve documentation and accounting processes where needed
What they’re looking for:
- 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit, real estate, or property accounting
- Strong Excel skills (comfort building and working with depreciation schedules and models)
- Understanding of fixed assets, depreciation, and general ledger accounting
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment
- Prior experience with month‑end close and financial reporting is a plus
- ERP or accounting system experience preferred
