Senior Project Accountant

Location: Emeryville, CA (Hybrid)
Salary: $105,000 – $120,000 + Bonus

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Project Accountant to support the financial management of multiple projects throughout their lifecycle. This role partners closely with Project Managers and Finance leadership to oversee budgeting, forecasting, billing, revenue recognition, and project profitability.

Responsibilities

• Manage project accounting from setup through closeout.
• Prepare and review client billings, including time & materials and fixed-fee contracts.
• Monitor project budgets, costs, revenue, and profitability.
• Perform revenue recognition and maintain WIP schedules.
• Partner with Project Managers on forecasting and financial performance.
• Analyze project financial results and identify risks or cost overruns.
• Support month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with contract terms, company policies, and GAAP.
• Assist with audit requests and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years of project accounting.
• Strong understanding of project accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue recognition.
• Experience with ERP systems such as Deltek, NetSuite, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, or similar.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience in engineering, consulting, construction, architecture, or professional services environments.
• Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or Deltek Costpoint.
