Director of Finance
Princeton, NJ | Contract-to-Hire | Up to $105,000
Beacon Hill is working with a respected nonprofit organization in the Princeton area is seeking a Director of Finance to join its senior leadership team. This is a highly visible position for a hands-on finance leader who can balance day-to-day accounting operations with strategic financial planning and organizational leadership.
Position Highlights
* Contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term stability
* Up to $105,000 upon permanent conversion
* Reports directly to the Executive Director
* Leadership role overseeing Finance, HR, and IT functions
* Opportunity to work closely with executive leadership and Board members
* Hybrid flexibility available after initial onsite training period
* Immediate hiring need with interviews starting soon
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all accounting and financial operations including general ledger, month-end close, year-end close, and financial reporting
* Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cash management, and financial controls
* Prepare financial statements, dashboards, and reports for leadership and the Board of Trustees
* Manage budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning activities
* Coordinate annual audits and support IRS Form 990 preparation
* Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and grant requirements
* Monitor restricted funds, endowments, and grant activity
* Develop and maintain internal controls and risk management processes
* Oversee insurance, contracts, cybersecurity, and operational policies
* Supervise and mentor staff across accounting, HR, and IT functions
* Partner with leadership on strategic initiatives and organizational goals
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
* CPA required
* 5+ years of nonprofit accounting and finance leadership experience
* Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and audit coordination
* Experience managing grants, endowments, and restricted funds
* QuickBooks Online experience required
* Proven leadership and team management experience
* Strong communication and presentation skills
* Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on within the accounting function
