About the Opportunity

Our client, a well-established professional services firm, is seeking an Employee Benefits Compliance Specialist to join a specialized team supporting retirement and employee benefit plans.

This is not a traditional HR benefits administration role. Instead, this position focuses on drafting plan documents, researching regulatory requirements, analyzing benefit plans, and supporting compliance-related projects. The ideal candidate enjoys detailed, analytical work and is comfortable navigating complex documentation and regulatory materials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, revise, and maintain retirement and employee benefit plan documents and amendments.
  • Prepare Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) and related plan materials.
  • Review and analyze retirement and welfare benefit plans for compliance and accuracy.
  • Research IRS regulations, ERISA requirements, and other employee benefit-related matters.
  • Assist with retirement plan amendments, restatements, and regulatory filings.
  • Support responses to RFPs and client requests.
  • Prepare legislation and related documentation for public-sector clients, including police and fire departments.
  • Perform extensive document review, research, and administrative support.

Qualifications

  • 3-4+ years of relevant experience in employee benefits, retirement plans, benefits consulting, compliance, plan administration, ERISA, or a related field.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, or interpreting plan documents is highly preferred.
  • Ability to research and interpret IRS code, tax regulations, or ERISA-related matters is a strong plus.
  • Legal industry experience is not required.
  • Experience with retirement plans, employee benefits consulting, third-party administration (TPA), or related compliance work is preferred.
  • CPA, CEBS, or advanced tax/benefits education is welcomed but not required.
  • Strong analytical, research, written communication, and document review skills.

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Additional hours may occasionally be required.
