Position Summary
Beacon Hill is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to support international and domestic transportation operations within a global supply chain environment. This role is responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, managing freight documentation, auditing transportation costs, tracking shipment performance, and ensuring smooth communication between carriers, customers, customs brokers, and internal teams.
The ideal candidate has direct experience in international freight operations, ocean shipping, customs coordination, and transportation management systems (TMS) and thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven logistics environment.
Position Details
Job Type: Contract-to-Perm
Pay Rate: $28.85-$30.00 per hour (higher compensation considered for extensive experience)
Target Salary (Perm): $60,000+ plus bonus and benefits
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
Start Date: After interview
Travel: None
Key Responsibilities
International & Domestic Freight Coordination
- Coordinate international ocean and domestic transportation activities
- Manage shipment bookings, load tenders, and transportation planning
- Track and trace shipments and proactively resolve transportation issues
- Monitor vessel schedules and support customs clearance activities
- Ensure timely pickup, delivery, and milestone updates throughout the shipment lifecycle
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accuracy of shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, PODs, and customs-related documents
- Support compliance with Incoterms, customs regulations, and internal operating procedures
- Ensure shipment records and transportation data are accurately maintained within TMS and ERP systems
Freight Audit & Cost Control
- Review and approve freight invoices for accuracy
- Audit 3PL invoices and resolve billing discrepancies
- Track and manage detention, demurrage, and other accessorial costs
- Support freight cost analysis and benchmarking initiatives
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor carrier performance, service levels, and transportation KPIs
- Analyze trends related to delivery performance, costs, and operational efficiency
- Prepare operational reports and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with automation and process enhancement projects
Vendor & Customer Management
- Maintain strong relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation providers
- Respond to customer and internal stakeholder requests in a timely manner
- Support quoting activities and rate requests
- Collaborate closely with customer service, sales, and operations teams
Systems & Tools
- Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
- ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
- 5-6 years of freight operations experience preferred
- Experience within a 3PL, freight forwarding, ocean carrier, importer, or exporter environment strongly preferred
- Direct experience coordinating international import/export shipments
- Hands-on experience with ocean freight, customs documentation, and Incoterms
- 3-4 years of TMS experience
- Experience auditing freight invoices and resolving billing discrepancies
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
